One of the accessories that we like the most are the Sunglasses<\/strong> and, as we already know, they are not all the same<\/strong>. There are multiple brands and we find them in almost any establishment, not only in opticians and pharmacies but also in markets or gossip magazines. Well, when we talk about legal sunglasses<\/strong>, what are we talking about? Of glasses that do not harm the Health<\/strong> and therefore have passed all controls. We find those in opticians and pharmacies.<\/p>\n

Regulations applicable to sunglasses (non-prescription)<\/strong><\/p>\n

To begin with, there is a directive to comply with and an RD that transposes said directive into our law. It's about the Directive 89\/686\/EEC,<\/strong><\/a> of December 21 that regulates the conditions for the commercialization and free intra-community circulation of personal protective equipment (PPE) establishing the essential health and safety requirements (EESS) that must be met in order to preserve the health and guarantee the safety of users and, on the other hand, Royal Decree 1407\/1992,<\/strong><\/a> of November 20. Furthermore, there is the standard EN ISO 12312-1 <\/strong>in force since February 28, 2015, which, however, is not binding.<\/p>\n

What the manufacturer must do and have <\/strong><\/p>\n

1.- The manufacturer must guarantee that the equipment is sure<\/strong> and, in addition, to have the adequate evidence<\/strong>. This implies that there must have been essays<\/strong> and it must be documented that, in view of the results, the glasses comply with the essential health and safety requirements<\/strong> that are required by law.<\/p>\n

2.- The manufacturer must have the Declaration of conformity<\/strong>, which is the one provided for in the model of Annex VI of Royal Decree 1407\/92.<\/p>\n

3.- The glasses must have the CE marking<\/strong>. The CE marking is not a sticker, but a seal that certifies that the glasses comply with current regulations. If the sticker is placed without the control, we would be facing a fraud.<\/p>\n

4.- In addition, the sunglasses must go with expression of the category or degree of eye protection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5.- The glasses must go with a information brochure<\/strong> must have at least the following content:<\/p>\n

.- Instructions for use and maintenance.<\/span><\/p>\n

.- Yields achieved in the technical tests aimed at verifying the degrees or classes of protection.<\/span><\/p>\n

.- Accessories that can be used and characteristics of the appropriate spare parts, if applicable.<\/span><\/p>\n

.- Protection classes appropriate to the different levels of risk and corresponding limits of use.<\/span><\/p>\n

.- Type of packaging suitable for transporting the glasses.<\/span><\/p>\n

.- Date or expiry date of the glasses.<\/span><\/p>\n

.- Explanation of the brands that the glasses carry.<\/span><\/p>\n

What the pharmacy, optician or other establishment that sells sunglasses should know<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.- You must ensure that your glasses supplier<\/strong> is a company that guarantees that it has met the above requirements. This means that you cannot buy glasses in China and sell them in Spain no matter how good they are guaranteed to be.<\/p>\n

2.- Glasses are only good if they have passed the controls<\/strong> and therefore if the supplying company can show the pharmacy or optician the legal documents that we have seen previously.<\/p>\n

3.- You must be able to advise the customers<\/strong> about the characteristics of the glasses and the client could ask who the supplier is. The advice is one of the great assets of the pharmacy and optician that you must know how to play.<\/p>\n

4.- All the controls and guarantees that the supplier has to go through are paid for and that is what has to be sold to the end user as opposed to fashionable glasses or cheap ones from a flea market or magazine.<\/p>\n
